Two Men Tragically Killed in Gurugram Truck Accident

Tragic Accident Claims Two Lives in Gurugram

On Thursday evening, two men tragically killed in Gurugram after being run over by a large truck. This sad event occurred between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM on Rajesh Pilot Road, near Ghata village in Sector 58.

The men were identified as Masrul Ali, 26 years old, from Malda in West Bengal, and Chandan Kumar, 33 years old, from Gaya district in Bihar, currently living in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. Masrul had booked a bike taxi in Delhi to reach Sector 59.

Details of the Incident

According to the police, Masrul and Chandan were riding their bike taxi towards the Ghata traffic signal from the Gurugram-Faridabad road. The area they were traveling on had damaged sections. While they were on the extreme left side of the road, a tractor suddenly appeared from a connecting road and drove the wrong way on the main road.

Inspector Vinod Kumar, the station house officer at the Sector 56 police station, provided more information. He explained that the truck driver swerved sharply to avoid hitting the tractor. However, he did not notice the motorcycle in front of him. The truck was loaded with heavy iron rebars, making it difficult for the driver to brake in time.

Unfortunately, both men were severely injured and crushed under the front wheels of the truck. Masrul died instantly, while Chandan was rushed to the Sector 10A civil hospital but also passed away on the way.

Community Response and Investigation

After the accident, local residents quickly alerted the police. Emergency response teams and ambulances arrived on the scene to provide assistance. The police confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. However, they managed to locate and detain the tractor driver later on. The authorities also seized the truck, tractor, and motorcycle involved in the accident.

As of now, the families of Masrul and Chandan have been informed about the incident. They are yet to reach Gurugram for legal formalities, which include registering a First Information Report (FIR) and having the autopsies conducted.

Road Safety Concerns in Gurugram

This tragic event highlights ongoing road safety issues in Gurugram. The region, close to Delhi, has seen a worrying rise in road accidents. Reports say there was a 30% increase in fatal accidents from 2020 to 2021.

Moreover, Punjab, another state in India, had the highest number of road accidents in 2021, with around 21,000 reported cases. Gurugram’s National Capital Region is one of the top ten areas in India for fatal accidents, showing just how serious this issue has become.

In 2022, major roads in Gurugram saw more than 1 million vehicles daily. Such heavy traffic contributes to the chances of accidents, making the roads very dangerous.

Looking Ahead

However, this accident raises important questions about road safety and driver responsibility. It serves as a reminder for all road users to be cautious. Proper precautions could save lives.

Officials are encouraged to improve road conditions and enforce traffic rules more strictly. However, as this case unfolds, families and friends of the victims are mourning the loss of their loved ones. 😢
