Shankar's International Dolls Museum

Shankar’s International Dolls Museum Delhi: What’s So Special?

Posted on March 2, 2023

Shankar’s International Dolls Museum is one of the most prominent examples of Indian art. You know, one thing that I really liked about this museum is that they have made it keeping a child’s psychology in mind.

If you have got kids in your house or you are planning to visit a good but educational place with your kids, Shankar’s International Dolls Museum would be the perfect place for you.

So, what’s so special about this place? Well, it’s the dolls. Don’t judge me! These dolls are not the ordinary dolls we see in the market. Those dolls are specially collected from different states of the world, and each of them has a special significance.

Trust me, I brought my niece there, and she was talking about the place for one week straight. I also noticed that she has started taking an interest in Indian history now. I am so proud of her.

There are 160 Indian dolls only. Just imagine the rest. They all have traditional clothes and symbols attached to them.

You can take a picture with permission. You can spend the entire day there if you want to.

This museum stays open for all seven days a week. You can visit the place both in the morning and the evening hours. It opens at 10:00 am in the morning and stays open until 6:00 pm.

The most interesting part is that it will only cost you 30 rupees and 13 rupees for your child. Yes, it’s that pocket friendly. Sometimes, schools also organize a short tour of this museum.

If the students are large in numbers, the price cuts down to 3 rupees per head. After all, you are in India. When it comes to museums, you will not be charged much.

So, have you decided when you will visit the museum? See, the place is not for your kids only. There is nothing in this world that can stop anybody from going there. You can be a researcher too, right?

Just buy the tickets, bring your camera and enjoy. Those who have a keen interest in Indian doll art or, in fact, the doll art of the world can visit it.

You know, dolls say a lot about the culture of the country. So, undoubtedly it would be a great experience.

Wrapping Up

Dolls are just like us: different outfits, different languages, different appearances, and obviously different nationalities. You tell me, what reminds you of the diversity of the human race?

In my case is the dolls at this museum. It is not only India that is diverse; the entire world is diverse. You would be amazed to see people living a completely different life from you in a weird place, but that weird place is their home.

Rashtrapati Bhavan also reminds us of the diversity of our leaders. Presidents go and come, but the Bhavan remains the same. Welcoming each of them and letting them govern the next chapter of India.
