Serious allegations against Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati have shocked Delhi and raised serious concerns. He worked as the director of the Sri Sharadha Institute of Indian Management-Research in Vasant Kunj. Now, more than a dozen students, mostly young women, accuse him of sexual harassment. These students, many from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), studying on scholarships, shared detailed complaints. Their courage pushed the institute’s parent body, the Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham of Karnataka, to remove him immediately. The religious organization declared his actions illegal and harmful, then filed police complaints without delay.
Police say at least 32 female students have already given statements. Out of them, 17 described serious harassment. Some explained how he verbally abused them, others said he forced them to watch inappropriate videos, and many reported unwanted physical contact. Shockingly, students revealed that some faculty members pressured them to follow his demands, which made the trauma even deeper.
Investigators collected CCTV footage and seized digital devices, including hard drives, that may contain crucial proof. They also found a luxury car with a fake United Nations number plate under Chaitanyananda’s name. Officers confirmed that no official record existed for the number plate, which raised fresh doubts about his power and hidden links. Police have taken the car for further checks.
This scandal is not his first. In 2009, he faced charges of fraud and molestation in Delhi’s Defence Colony. Later, in 2016, a woman accused him of molestation in Vasant Kunj. Investigators are now reviewing both cases to connect them with his present actions. His earlier identity, Swami Parthasarathy, has also come under new investigation.
The latest complaint came from PA Murli, administrator of the Sri Sringeri Math. He reported that a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) student suffered harassment. This complaint led police at the Vasant Kunj North station to register a formal case. Soon after, many other students stepped forward with first-hand accounts, strengthening the investigation.
Right now, police teams continue searching for Chaitanyananda, but he has managed to remain hidden. His disappearance has angered parents and students. Many families feel betrayed because they trusted the institute to provide safety along with education. Their frustration grows each day he stays missing.
This case has also opened a larger debate on abuse of power in spiritual and educational institutions. People now ask how someone with a troubling record could stay in charge of such a respected institute for years. Activists and women’s safety groups believe the case should mark a turning point.
