A disturbing incident involving the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has sparked outrage after a video showed a constable harassing a passenger and trying to push him out of a train.
The video, which quickly went viral, shows the officer slapping a young man and dragging him toward the open door. Fellow passengers can be heard protesting, saying the officer used excessive force. Reports suggest the young man did not have a valid ticket.
Normally, passengers without tickets receive fines under railway rules. Instead, the constable’s rough handling raised concerns about his conduct and how such cases should be managed.
The public reacted strongly. Thousands of people expressed anger online, demanding strict action against the officer and accountability from the RPF.
The RPF later clarified the situation. They said the incident happened on August 18, 2025, at Delhi Sarai Rohilla station after someone pulled the emergency chain. The constable approached the young man when he failed to show identification. Officials stressed that the train was at the platform. They rejected claims that the constable tried to push the man from a moving train and insisted that passenger safety remained their priority.
After the uproar, the RPF moved the constable to the Reserve Line at Daya Basti. They also launched a divisional-level inquiry to review the case. The force promised action once the investigation ends.
The case highlights challenges the RPF faces while handling over 10,000 passenger complaints each year. Officers must ensure safety across one of the world’s busiest railway networks without misusing their authority.
For millions, Indian Railways is a lifeline. Safety depends not only on strong systems but also on the professionalism of officers. This incident shows the need for better training and stricter accountability. It also stresses the importance of trust between passengers and those who protect them.
