Residents across Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are closely watching the skies today as the monsoon season brings rainfall to the National Capital Region. The showers disrupt transport and daily routines, and commuters should carry umbrellas and prepare for traffic delays caused by waterlogging.
At the same time, attention in the capital focuses on a major legal development. On July 31, 2025, the Delhi High Court heard a plea from Abdul Rashid Sheikh, the Member of Parliament from Baramulla, who contests charges in a terror funding case. A division bench of Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Shalinder Kaur directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to respond to Sheikh’s petition. The court will review the matter again on October 6, 2025.
Sheikh argues that the NIA delayed the framing of charges by nearly 1,100 days, which, he claims, undermines the case. He also disputes a trial court order that asked him to pay ₹1.44 lakh in travel expenses for attending hearings between July 24 and August 4, calling the amount unreasonably high. In addition, he has requested interim bail, seeking temporary release while his case proceeds. The High Court is still considering both the interim bail application and the challenge to the travel costs.
The court’s decision will play a crucial role in shaping Abdul Rashid Sheikh’s political and legal future as he fights the terror funding allegations. For now, Delhi-NCR residents must navigate a rainy day on the streets while political and legal circles await further developments in this high-profile case.
