MG Hector 2026 Facelift Launched in India

MG India launched the updated MG Hector facelift with attractive pricing starting at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). Notably, this represents a Rs 2.1 lakh price reduction compared to the outgoing model. Bookings started immediately after the launch announcement.

The 7-seater Hector Plus lineup begins at Rs 17.29 lakh. Currently, MG announced prices only for petrol variants. Meanwhile, diesel model pricing will be revealed next year.

Exterior Updates

The redesigned front grille features new honeycomb-like slats. So, these replace the previous diamond-shaped patterns. Additionally, MG revised the air dam design below the grille. The 18-inch alloy wheels showcase a fresh design.

However, the lighting elements remain unchanged. The split headlamp setup continues, along with LED strips connecting the taillamps. Furthermore, the rear bumper received minor updates.

MG added two attractive shades:

  • Pearl White (new)
  • Aurora Silver (existing)
  • Starry Black (existing)
  • Glaze Red (existing)

Interior Features

The cabin receives significant upgrades. The 5-seater Hector comes with dual-tone Ice Grey interiors. Conversely, the 6/7-seater Hector Plus features dual-tone tan upholstery.

However, MG introduced iSwipe touch gesture control technology. So, this innovative system works through the 14-inch portrait touchscreen. Two-finger gestures control climate settings, while three-finger gestures adjust audio controls.

The petrol engine delivers reliable performance. MG equipped the Hector with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged motor. So, this engine produces 143 horsepower and 250Nm torque.

Transmission options include:

  • 6-speed manual transmission
  • CVT automatic transmission

Diesel Option Coming Soon

The diesel variant will feature a 2.0-litre engine. This motor generates 170 horsepower and 350Nm torque. Previously, diesel models came only with manual transmission. However, MG might introduce an automatic option this time.

Seating Configurations

The updated model offers flexibility:

  • 5-seater: Standard Hector
  • 6-seater: Hector Plus (captain seats)
  • 7-seater: Hector Plus (bench seat)

Value Proposition

The top variant costs Rs 1.77 lakh less than before. So, this makes the Hector more competitive in the SUV segment. Moreover, the added features justify the value proposition.

Safety Features

MG prioritized safety with comprehensive equipment. So, the Hector includes six airbags as standard. Additionally, Level 2 ADAS provides advanced driver assistance. So, the 360-degree camera aids parking and maneuvering.

Market Position

However, the MG Hector competes against popular SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata Harrier. So, with reduced pricing and enhanced features, MG aims to capture more market share in the competitive mid-size SUV segment.
