Man Sets Himself on Fire After Dispute in Ghaziabad

A shocking incident took place in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a man sets himself on fire after dispute with his wife on Diwali night. The 28-year-old man returned home around 2 a.m. in an intoxicated state and repeatedly knocked on the door. His 24-year-old wife refused to open it. The couple had been married for only ten months and had moved to Ghaziabad two months earlier. The man originally belonged to Meerut.

According to police reports, the man became extremely upset when his wife did not let him in. In a moment of deep distress, he poured diesel over himself and set himself on fire outside their home. The horrifying act was caught on a nearby CCTV camera, which later became crucial evidence for the investigation.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Upasana Pandey said, “The man came home drunk and begged to enter. When his wife refused, he burned himself in anger.” Her statement revealed the level of emotional turmoil he was going through that night.

Neighbors, hearing his screams, rushed outside. They tried to put out the fire using blankets and immediately called the police. Officers arrived within minutes and took him to a nearby hospital. Doctors then referred him to a larger hospital in Delhi for advanced treatment due to the severity of his burns.

Unfortunately, despite the doctors’ efforts, the man died later that evening. This tragedy has raised serious questions about emotional health and domestic relationships. Many experts believe that timely emotional support and counseling could prevent such devastating incidents.

Police are now examining the CCTV footage and waiting for an official complaint from the family before taking further legal steps. Assistant Commissioner Pandey mentioned that the authorities would act as soon as they receive the family’s report.

Reports suggest that the couple had frequent arguments over personal issues in the month leading up to the incident. Friends and neighbors said the man often stayed away from home after fights. On Diwali night, he reportedly returned seeking reconciliation, but the evening ended in tragedy instead.

The video of the incident has circulated widely on social media, shocking many across the city. Although the footage appears real, police have not yet verified its authenticity. Meanwhile, social organizations are urging people to focus on mental health awareness and early conflict resolution within families.

Experts emphasize that emotional distress can worsen when people feel isolated. It is important for individuals facing such problems to seek help from friends, family, or mental health professionals. Counseling centers and helplines in Ghaziabad and nearby cities offer free and confidential support to those in need.

This heartbreaking event underscores the importance of effective communication in relationships and increased community awareness about mental well-being. When people talk openly about their emotions and seek help, tragedies like this can often be prevented.

The man sets himself on fire after dispute case reminds society of the urgent need for compassion, understanding, and timely intervention. Let this serve as a call to build stronger emotional support systems that can save lives before it’s too late.
