Early Wednesday morning, a shocking incident shook Greater Faridabad when a man shot his friend over a personal dispute. Police reports confirm that the victim, 45-year-old liquor businessman Suresh Kumar, was left in critical condition after the attack. Suresh, a resident of Sector 10, owns several liquor shops, spa centres, and saloons in the city. The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Vinod Kaushik, a restaurant and café owner from Junhera in Ballabgarh.
According to police, the conflict stemmed from a recent trip to Manali. Suresh was accompanied by his wife Duresh, Vinod’s wife Megha, and Suresh’s bodyguard Sonu Kumar on a four-day holiday. Upon returning to Faridabad, the group headed to KJL society in Sector 70, where Megha was supposed to reunite with her family. She had been staying with Sonu’s family following a dispute with Vinod.
The shooting occurred between 1 AM and 1:30 AM outside KJL society. As Suresh dropped off the group, Vinod, who was waiting in a car with another person, confronted him. In a fit of rage, Vinod fired three rounds at close range, hitting Suresh in the neck, chest, and abdomen. When Sonu attempted to stop him, Vinod attacked him and fled the scene in his car. Police say the suspect is still at large.
Suresh was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors described his condition as critical. Meanwhile, investigators uncovered tensions between Vinod and Megha, who had married just a year ago. Megha was employed as a manager at one of Suresh’s saloons in Sector 9. Sources indicate that Vinod often argued with Megha over her outings with Suresh, and her decision to join the Manali trip further angered him. Police believe this fueled the attack.
An FIR for attempted murder has been registered at BPTP police station against Vinod and unidentified accomplices. Authorities are pursuing leads to arrest him.
