Mahindra has launched the Mahindra XUV 9S electric SUV in India at a starting price of Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks the company’s fourth electric SUV following the XUV400, BE 6, and XEV 9e. Notably, the XEV 9S offers better versatility with its seven-seater configuration while sharing the same INGLO platform as the XEV 9e.

The pricing ranges from Rs 19.95 lakh for the base Pack One Above 59kWh variant to Rs 29.45 lakh for the top-end Pack Three Above 79kWh variant. Surprisingly, the XEV 9S costs less than the XEV 9e despite being larger and offering an extra row of seats. Consequently, it sits between the BE 6 and XEV 9e in terms of pricing.
Mahindra offers the XEV 9S with three battery pack options: 59kWh, 70kWh, and 79kWh. Moreover, the power outputs vary across these packs, ranging from 231 PS to 286 PS, while torque remains constant at 380 Nm. Additionally, the claimed range figures stand at 521 km, 600 km, and 679 km, respectively, for the three battery packs.
The design draws heavy inspiration from the XEV 9e at the front. Furthermore, it features striking L-shaped connected LED DRLs, triangular LED headlight clusters, and an illuminated Mahindra logo. Meanwhile, the side profile resembles the XUV700 but includes EV-specific elements like aero-styled 18-inch alloy wheels. The vehicle measures 4737 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, and 1745 mm in height.
Inside, the cabin features either a two or three-screen setup, depending on the variant. The dashboard sports a single-piece triple screen layout that dominates the interior space. Additionally, the XEV 9S comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, digital driver’s display, and front passenger display. However, all AC controls integrate into the screen itself with no dedicated physical panel.
The feature list remains impressive across all variants. Key highlights include an openable panoramic sunroof, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a 540° camera, and front and rear seat ventilation. Furthermore, safety features include 6-7 airbags, Level-2 ADAS, electronic stability control, and hill assist as standard equipment.
The second-row seats offer slide and recline functions, providing versatile seating configurations. Therefore, passengers can enjoy a comfortable space when the third row remains folded. The boot offers 527 litres of storage with the third row down, while a 150-litre frunk under the bonnet provides additional space for bags.
Charging times vary based on the battery pack size. Specifically, the 20-80% fast charging takes approximately 20 minutes for all three battery packs using 140kW, 160kW, and 180kW fast chargers, respectively. Meanwhile, full charging using a 7.2kW charger takes between 8.7 to 11.7 hours.
Test drives begin on December 5, 2025, while bookings open on January 14, 2026. Deliveries will commence from January 23, 2026, onwards. The XEV 9S comes in six colour options: Stealth Black, Ruby Velvet, Nebula Blue, Midnight Black, Desert Myst, and Everest White.
Mahindra offers a lifetime battery warranty for the first registered owners. The 0-100 kmph acceleration comes up in 7 seconds, while the top speed reaches 202 kmph. Although the Mahindra XEV 9S electric SUV currently has no direct rivals, it will compete with the upcoming Tata Safari EV and can be considered an alternative to the BYD eMAX 7 and Tata Harrier EV.
