Gurgaon Residents Demand Road Repairs as Builder Promises

Gurgaon residents demand road repairs as protests continue for the third week at ROF Alante over an unfinished 24-metre approach road. This road is critical for safe access to homes, yet despite the builder’s assurance of completion by August 8, many residents remain doubtful.

Families living in the 728-flat housing society complain about multiple issues beyond the road. Himani Sharma, who moved in three months ago, described the daily struggles, noting the absence of water supply, stray dogs and snakes creating safety hazards, and poor access to medical help.

ROF Alante, built under the Haryana Affordable Housing Policy, began handing over flats in January. However, residents argue that essential amenities are missing. The road adds to their frustration since records confirm it is a revenue road under Haryana government control. Recently, villagers dug up its end and blocked access with tin sheets, forcing people to use alternate routes.

Builder representative Alok Srivastava acknowledged residents’ safety concerns and promised quick solutions. He explained that villagers claim ownership, and civic authorities will now conduct demarcation on Friday. He assured that once completed, the road would be restored immediately.

Residents remain unconvinced and recently staged a march demanding action. Many, like Rama and RK Sharma, expressed fears about emergencies, while others, such as Babita and Shivani Thusoo, said the living conditions are unsafe, especially during monsoons when waterlogging worsens the roads. Even children complained that there isn’t enough space to cycle safely.

Despite repeated promises, anger is growing within the community. Gurgaon residents demand road repairs not only to restore access but also to ensure basic utilities and dignity in living conditions. The coming weeks will decide whether the builder and authorities deliver on their commitments.
