In a dramatic development in Gurgaon, police arrested five men who allegedly conspired to kill singer Rahul Fazilpuriya. Authorities say the gang plotted to murder the Bollywood singer as part of ongoing gang rivalries in the region.
The Special Task Force (STF) and the Gurgaon Crime Branch conducted the joint operation. Investigators had been tracking the case closely after the murder of Fazilpuriya’s friend, Rohit Shaukeen, earlier this month. Police believe gangsters Deepak Nandal and Rohit Sirdhania, operating from abroad, ordered Shaukeen’s killing. According to officers, the same gang planned to avenge his death by targeting Fazilpuriya.
Acting on a late-night tip-off, police set up an ambush in Wazirpur along the Gurgaon Pataudi Road. At around 12:15 a.m., officers intercepted a suspicious Toyota Innova without a number plate. When police attempted to stop the car, the suspects opened fire. Officers returned fire, shooting four of them in the legs before making the arrests.
Police identified the suspects as Gautam, Vinod Pehalwan from Jhajjar, Padam alias Raja from Sonipat, Shubham alias Kala, and Ashish alias Ashu. Gautam was detained on the spot, while officers captured the others after the gunfight. Authorities later confirmed that doctors treated the injured suspects in hospital and declared them stable.
Officials say the arrests underscore the rising threat of organized crime in Gurgaon and nearby areas. Once recognized mainly for rapid urban growth, the city now struggles with gang rivalries and escalating violence. Punjab and Haryana, both hubs of India’s music industry, have witnessed increasing involvement of young men in gangs—a trend that continues to worry law enforcement.
Police forces in both states have intensified their crackdown, deploying more resources and relying on intelligence-led strategies. Officers believe this operation prevented a major attack on Fazilpuriya, but they warn that the fight against gangs remains a long battle.
The incident highlights the urgent need for community support to steer youth away from crime and toward constructive opportunities. For Gurgaon and its neighboring states, tackling gang violence continues to be a pressing challenge.
