Temples have always been my go-to place, and Digambar Jain Temple is the very first place that I go to on my birthday. You know, the more I stay close to temples, the more I realize that it has nothing to do with religion.
If you are someone who likes to spend some time in peace and in a spiritually positive environment, this place is for you. Yes, Digambar Jain Temple is a Jain temple.
You know, the first time when I went there, I thought that I would be criticized or they wouldn’t allow me to enter. I am a Hindu, not a Jain. But all the pujaris there were so hospitable that I cannot even describe it.
I spent 3 hrs there, became part of the holy aarti, then saw the birds at the bird sanctuary. That day I realized what Jainism is all about. It’s about kindness to all, the birds, the animals, and every living being.
At the bird sanctuary, an old man kind of introduced me to a bird and narrated the story of how they had found her injured and then rescued them.
It’s amazing! Right? Let me tell you how you can visit the place and what are the things that you need to keep in mind.
Visiting Guidelines
Sadly, you cannot take pictures on the temple premises. Yes, apart from being a religious or spiritual place, it is also a historical place. There are no visiting charges. You can come anytime in the day, spend a considerable amount of time, and go back.
The temple opens at 5:30 in the morning and closes at 12 am at night. For a few hours in the afternoon, generally from 12 pm to 5 pm, it stays closed.
The aarti timings are in the morning and evening. So, if you are willing to participate, you should be present in those time frames. The Friday aarti is one of the best things that you can ever be a part of. I loved the ambiance and the way they organized everything.
Of course, there were many people, but still, the surrounding was peaceful. I was like, what was happening? I spent a few minutes, and then it was like floating in a whole new realm of time and space.
Besides that, the Digambar Jain Temple is situated in Chandni Chowk, so while you are shopping for your wedding lehenga, seek the blessings too!
Wrapping Up
I was in Chandni Chowk with my sister and parents for her wedding shopping. Suddenly, My mom said that we should visit the temple; I was reluctant to go there because I was tired.
But trust me; It was refreshing! In short, it will rejuvenate your soul. One more thing! The Red Fort here too! Hmmm, too many places, too little time. You do one thing, take a day out from your schedule and start with the Red Fort and end the day with a soothing aarti at the temple.
100% successful plan.
