Delhi Police Arrest Aqeel Khan: Father Accused of Staging Fake Acid Attack

Delhi Police Arrest Aqeel Khan_ Father Accused of Staging Fake Acid Attack

New Delhi: The Delhi Police arrest Aqeel Khan for allegedly planning a fake acid attack on his 20-year-old daughter. Khan, who is already lodged in Tihar Jail for a rape case, reportedly staged the incident to frame people who had earlier accused him of serious crimes. The arrest has shocked many, revealing a disturbing story of manipulation and deceit.

The case began when reports of an acid attack on Khan’s daughter surfaced, drawing public attention. Initially, the police believed it was a genuine assault and quickly registered a case. However, investigators soon found several inconsistencies in the victim’s statements. These clues suggested that the entire story might have been fabricated.

According to Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ravinder Yadav, the investigation team noticed contradictions in the daughter’s account. After analyzing CCTV footage, they discovered that the alleged attackers were not at the scene when the supposed crime occurred. The footage instead pointed toward a staged event planned by Khan from inside Tihar Jail.

On Thursday, police confirmed that Khan was formally arrested two days earlier at Bhalswa Dairy police station, where he was already facing older charges. After receiving court permission, officers from Bharat Nagar police station visited him in Tihar Jail for questioning. During interrogation, they found strong evidence linking him to the fake attack.

The alleged motive was revenge. Khan wanted to falsely implicate Jitender, the husband of a woman who had accused him of rape, and Armaan and Ishaan, the sons of another woman, Shabnam, who had filed an acid attack case against him in 2018. Investigators discovered that Khan’s daughter poured toilet cleaner on herself to fake acid burns and accuse them of assault.

Jitender’s wife spoke out, saying, “My husband is innocent. Khan and his family conspired to trap him.” Police verified her claim with video evidence showing Jitender was at work in Karol Bagh when the incident supposedly occurred.

The case has raised concerns about the rising number of false accusations. Delhi Police officers emphasized that such false claims not only waste resources but also harm real victims by weakening public trust. Authorities are now reviewing similar complaints registered at Bhalswa Dairy police station, which has seen a sharp increase in false reports over the past year.

Experts say false allegations can have lasting social and legal consequences. They can ruin reputations, destroy families, and slow down the justice process for real victims. Legal experts also recommend stricter penalties for those who file fake cases to ensure accountability and discourage misuse of law.

Meanwhile, in Punjab and other northern states, reports of violence against women remain alarmingly high. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Punjab ranks among the top states for reported crimes against women, showing a consistent rise in cases over the last five years. These statistics highlight both the urgency to protect genuine victims and the need to prevent false reporting.

Authorities continue to investigate Khan’s actions and the involvement of others in his scheme. They also urge the public to verify facts before spreading unconfirmed information, as false narratives can lead to unnecessary panic and injustice.

In conclusion, the Delhi Police arrest Aqeel Khan case highlights the complex balance between justice and accountability. While it is crucial to support real victims of violence, society must also guard against fabricated stories that damage innocent lives. Only with truth, awareness, and responsible behavior can justice truly prevail.
