On Tuesday, the Central Delhi Kings claimed a tense 12-run win over the Outer Delhi Warriors in the Delhi Premier League at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. As a result, the Kings secured valuable points in the tournament and kept their campaign alive.
Batting first, the Kings reached 161 for 8 in 20 overs. Their start was poor, since opener Yash Dhull managed only 2 runs. Wickets kept falling; however, Aditya Bhandari steadied the innings with 41 off 27 balls. His boundaries came at vital moments, and later, Simarjeet Singh provided late acceleration with 19 runs from 8 deliveries. Therefore, the Kings set a competitive total.
The Warriors’ bowlers worked hard, and in particular, Siddhant Sharma led the attack with 3 wickets for 33 runs. Meanwhile, Shivam Sharma impressed with 2 for 21, which slowed the scoring rate.
When the Warriors began their chase, they struggled early and slipped to 43 for 5. Nevertheless, a fighting partnership between Keshav Dabas and Harsh Tyagi revived hope. They added 64 runs for the sixth wicket. Tyagi contributed 31 from 29 balls; eventually, his dismissal stalled the momentum.
Dabas carried on with an aggressive 64 from 45 balls. Moreover, his stroke play put pressure on the Kings’ bowlers. Unfortunately, his dismissal in the second-last over, caught by Jasvir Sehrawat off Pranshu Vijayran, proved decisive. Consequently, the Warriors ended on 149 for 8.
The Kings’ bowlers showed composure under pressure. In addition, Simarjeet Singh returned figures of 2 for 27 to complement his batting. Money Grewal picked up 2 for 28, and Arun Pundir was highly economical with 1 for 15 in 3 overs. Together, their combined effort sealed the win.
