Posted on February 17, 2023

Bangla Sahib Gurudwara Delhi is one of those places where people of every caste and religion go to find peace.

As it is very evident from the name that it is a gurudwara which means the religious place of Sikhs. But it is open to all. Sikhism is one of the kindest religions of all time.

It supports equality over anything. It does not matter whether you are a worshipper, traveler, or in fact, anybody; you can find food to eat and a bed to sleep in here.

Yes, you can book a room too! You must be wondering why people stay in Gurudwaras. Well, because Bangla Sahib Gurudwara is open to all.

You can be rich and have cars, but that does not change anything in the service. The service is equal to all. People come here to feel the unity here.

Okay, in case you don’t know, Sikhism supports humanity, and helping people is their main motif. This is the reason they feed people and take care of them without expecting anything.

Before you visit Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, you should have knowledge about the rules and regulations of a gurdwara. Here are the rules –

Wear Modest Clothing

This is the first thing that you need to follow. Before going to any religious place, you need to make sure that you don’t show too much of your skin. Don’t wear anything that exposes your shoulders or your knees. Keep them covered. In short, modest clothing.

Cover Your Head

It is their custom that Sikh people cover their heads while they are inside Gurudwara. It is the way they show respect to their lord and their faith.

As soon as you enter the premises, you become part of the same faith. Moreover, you need to do all the things that they do to make sure that nobody there feels offended.

It is a good place to visit, and obviously, it will give you bliss. The Langar timings are – 7:00 am to 3:pm in the day and 7 pm to 10:00 pm in the night.

As far as the rooms are concerned, you can book them online. There are 8 bedrooms and two halls with the capacity of holding 500 people.

Yes, they are huge and comfortable so you will not face any problems.

Wrapping Up

Do you know why people named the place Bangla Sahib Gurudwara? It was actually a bungalow of a Hindu King. The Sikh guru used to live in that bungalow with him.

Later, it was named after the word Bungalow to show respect to the guru and the king at the same time.

Now! Does it feel different? I know learning history and then looking at the same place makes a lot of difference. I felt the same thing when I visited Chandni Chowk after learning its history.
