Humayun’s Tomb Delhi is a name that most people are accustomed to but not connected with. You know, I never took an interest in tombs. I used to find them boring.
Moreover, I am a very death-fearing person, and the concept of tombs makes me feel like we are celebrating death. And that is not okay for me at all.
But when I was in Delhi last year, I thought of giving it a try. I am a romantic movie person, and I was listening to the song “Bolna halke halke” from the movie “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.”
In that song, the hero took the heroine to Humayun’s tomb. And they made a beautiful promise there.
It was so cute! In the movie, it looked mesmerizing, so I decided to go. I bought the tickets and entered, and I started feeling peaceful.
It was as if I was traveling in time. I must say, the government has done a great job in preserving the place. Then from the tour guide, I came to know about the history.
Would you like to hear it? It is kind of similar to the Taj Mahal, but I find it more beautiful.
History of Humayun’s Tomb
The history of Humayun’s tomb is full of love and admiration. It was made by one of the Beghums. She hired an architect from Persia. His name was Mirak Mirza Ghiyath.
The construction started in 1565 and ended in 1672. Yes, it took that long. Once you visit, you will realize why. Every detail about the tomb is just on point.
Moreover, the color, the red color, Oh my god! The color of love. It is amazing to think in this way that you are standing in front of a tomb that was created by a famous architect from Persia in 1565, and it is 2023.
Fascinating!
How to Reach There?
It’s easy. Again, the Delhi metro will help you. You need to reach Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium station, and Humayun’s tomb is just a few minutes away.
You can also take the roadways if you want to. Ticket prices start from 35 rupees. Yes, just 35.
It is an Indian tourist spot, so they don’t charge much. But the ticket price is 500 rupees for foreign visitors.
So, if you are in Delhi, it’s almost spring, and the weather is amazing, don’t waste the afternoon watching movies; explore something historical.
Wrapping Up
You know, I always used to think that historical sense is nothing but just hype. A place does not have a soul. But after I visited places like Chandni Chowk and Sacred Heart Cathedral, I changed my mind.
Listening to the history and walking on the paths created by the emperors just blew my mind. It was a surreal experience.
So, next time you visit such places, make sure you read the history or spend a considerable amount of time there.
This way, you will be able to feel what others can’t.
