On Friday, PM Modi supports Bihar women by launching a new scheme as the state gears up for elections. The Bihar Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojna will send money directly into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women. Each woman will receive Rs 10,000 as the first installment. In total, the government will transfer Rs 7,500 crore in this phase. Women who use this money for small businesses may later get up to Rs 2 lakh in additional support.
During the launch, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the women of Bihar. He said, “Your brothers Narendra and Nitish are working overtime to secure and advance your dignity.” His words show the BJP’s clear attempt to win strong support from women voters before the polls.
The BJP has gained success earlier by focusing on women’s welfare. In Madhya Pradesh’s 2023 elections, the party introduced the Laadli Behna scheme. It gave 1.23 crore women monthly support, rising from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,250. This helped the BJP secure 165 of 230 seats with a vote share of 48.69%. The win showed a 9% rise from the earlier election.
Ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections in 2024, the BJP launched the Laadki Behen Yojna. It promised Rs 1,500 per month to women. The party later won 133 out of 149 seats, a 90% success rate. In Haryana, the Lado Laxmi Yojna promised Rs 2,100 per month. In Chhattisgarh, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana offered Rs 1,000 to 70 lakh women. These steps also boosted BJP’s appeal in those states.
Modi also pointed to earlier national schemes that supported women. The Ujjwala Yojna gave free gas connections. The Mudra scheme provided loans. The PM Awas Yojna allowed homes to be registered in women’s names. He stressed that all these steps are part of a bigger plan for women-led development.
In his Bihar speech, Modi said, “When women advance, society advances.” He urged women to stay united and avoid negative influences. And he compared the present with what he called the “jungle raj” of past governments under Lalu Yadav. He said violence and lawlessness made women feel unsafe back then. In contrast, he claimed that under the NDA, women now move freely with greater security.
Modi also gave a call for unity. He declared, “We must pledge today – ‘Ab Bihar ko phir kabhi us andhere mein nahi jaane denge,’” which means, “We will never again let Bihar descend into the darkness of RJD rule.” He stressed that protecting the future of children depends on women’s empowerment and collective strength.
In conclusion, PM Modi supports Bihar women through this new direct cash transfer scheme. The program reflects BJP’s goal to empower women socially and economically. As elections near, it is set to shape voter sentiment and strengthen women’s role in Bihar’s development story.
