Hastkala Academy Delhi – Top Attractions and Things to Buy

Posted on March 24, 2023

Hastkala Academy Delhi is one of the best places to visit if you are an artist. You don’t believe me, right? But it is true. This craft museum is one of the best tourist attractions in Delhi.

It was a tiring sunny day. It felt gloomy. I wanted to go to a place that could educate me in some way. You know, I don’t like going to a movie or date night each weekend. Sometimes, I love to know something outside of the corporate world.

So, I was just scrolling through my phone when my best friend gave me a call. He was like get ready; I’m coming to pick you up. I said nothing because, obviously, I wanted to go out.

I put on a cute outfit that I bought after bargaining for hours in Sarojini nagar. He took me to Hastkala Academy.

Okay, I would be honest. I was not that happy at that time. Why? Because most of the art places that I have ever been to have nothing really artistic. So, I had zero expectations.

But when I actually stepped inside. My mind was blown. I was like, Oh my god!

The entire museum is super cool. I saw art pieces that I had never even heard of. But what I really liked about the place was the textile section. I belong to Kolkata, yes, the saree land. So, whenever I used to look at these big pieces of cloth, I used to wonder how on earth these are made.

How do they paint the fabric, is there a machine, or are there thousands of artists working on different sarees? All of my questions got the answer.

I just witnessed the history of the textile industry in India. How it was done before and how it has changed down the years. It was an out-of-the-world experience for me.

After that, we went to the market there. Yes, it was an art market. Artists hailing from various parts of the country come and sell their handmade stuff. I loved the sculpture; it was a little elephant.

Yes, the Rajasthani designs that we see in the movies. I also bought some paintings. Apart from all of these, the audio show was just outstanding. You won’t believe it, but right now, when I’m writing this article, I have that elephant on my desk.

Oh, sorry! I almost forgot to tell you. Never miss the food. It was heavenly. The name is Cafe Lota. The ambiance was 10/10, and the food was 10/10; prices were also reasonable.

So, my foodie self and my artistic self both were healthy and happy the entire day. So, what are you waiting for now? Hurry up! The place opens at 8 am in the morning.

So, you easily take your weekend sleep, get ready and reach the place around 11 am. Take your time, visit the places, and buy things; it’s gonna be fun!
