A man arrested in Delhi for Snatching Rs 45 Lakh in jewellery during a daring robbery in northwest Delhi. The incident shocked residents on August 28 and ended with the arrest of Akash, who remains in police custody.
Satish Kumar, a businessman from Karnal, Haryana, was traveling with his driver when two men on a motorcycle attacked near Prem Bari Pul. They smashed the car window, grabbed a bag containing five gold sets and a diamond set worth Rs 45 lakh, and sped away.
Satish reported the case immediately, and police acted quickly. Investigators registered an FIR, checked CCTV footage, and launched several raids. Their efforts led to Akash’s arrest, along with the recovery of the stolen jewellery and the scooter used in the crime.
During questioning, Akash admitted the robbery. He also confessed that he was looking for a buyer for the valuables. Police revealed his criminal history: 16 past cases involving robbery, snatching, theft, and Arms Act violations. He was already listed as a “bad character” in Inderpuri.
Authorities believe Akash had accomplices. They continue to trace others involved, as the robbery looked well planned and coordinated.
The case highlights rising crime in the region. Punjab, for example, reports a crime rate of 586.8 per 100,000 people, compared to the national average of 383. Even cities like Mohali and Chandigarh, known for civic amenities and higher incomes, face growing threats of robbery and theft.
Officials stress that stronger surveillance, community policing, and cooperation with residents are essential. People must stay alert, report suspicious activity, and support law enforcement in stopping such gangs.
However, the Delhi robbery shows that crime can strike even in busy areas. Police recovered Satish Kumar’s valuables, but the case warns everyone about the need for vigilance. Ultimately, Man Arrested in Delhi for Snatching Rs 45 Lakh underscores the urgent demand for better safety measures across the region.
