Resident Assaulted at Ghaziabad High-Rise: Staff Arrested

A shocking incident unfolded at the Saya Gold high-rise in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, where a dispute between a resident and maintenance staff turned violent. The altercation occurred on Monday, following a complaint filed by the resident the previous day.

Rahul Arora, a resident, stated that he had been experiencing water supply issues for six months. On Sunday evening, during the Raksha Bandhan festival, he returned to the maintenance office, frustrated that the problem had worsened. There, he met staff member Lavanya Tayal. Rahul claimed the discussion escalated quickly when Tayal used abusive language toward him and his family.

Rahul alleged that Tayal then attacked him. He said four others, including Ravi Kant, held him down while Tayal struck him. Rahul added that he was threatened, his clothes were torn, and he suffered an eye injury.

Rahul filed a first information report (FIR) at the Indirapuram police station against Tayal and four unidentified men. Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Srivastava said police registered the FIR and arrested Tayal for assault. The charges include rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult meant to provoke violence.

Soon after, CCTV footage from the maintenance office began circulating on social media. Police are reviewing it as part of the investigation. The maintenance department insists Rahul provoked the fight by pushing Tayal first. They argue that the other staff members only tried to break it up.

The incident has worried many residents of the high-rise and the wider Indirapuram area, which has seen a rapid rise in new complexes. Residents said they were shocked and want stronger conflict resolution methods in housing societies to prevent such events.

Indirapuram, much like Chandigarh and Mohali, attracts families looking for better living conditions. But disputes in high-density societies often create tension. Community members are now calling for better communication and cooperation between residents and staff.

As the case moves forward, residents hope the investigation delivers justice and sparks changes that make their homes safer and more peaceful.
