Gangster Arrested in Delhi: Ties to Notorious Gang and Gun Violence

On August 10, 2025, a gangster arrested in Delhi, Dev Vart, was taken into custody by the Delhi Police in Dwarka. He has ties to the notorious Neetu Dabodia gang, and police wanted him for a recent shooting in the Kanjhawala area. The arrest followed an ongoing investigation into a violent incident that occurred just two weeks prior.

The incident began on the night between July 30 and 31 in Majra Dabas, where people fired shots outside a residence during a personal dispute. After registering the case at Kanjhawala police station, investigators identified Dev Vart as the key suspect. A confidential tip-off revealed his presence in Dwarka, where he was reportedly meeting someone. Acting swiftly, police laid a trap and successfully captured him.

Upon his arrest, police recovered a semi-automatic pistol made in Italy along with a live cartridge. This discovery underscores the growing issue of illegal arms in Delhi and nearby regions. The presence of such weapons points to the increasing threat posed by organized gangs.

Dev Vart has a long and dangerous criminal history. His record includes murder, extortion, and other serious crimes. In 2012, the court jailed him and an accomplice for killing a man named Rohit. After he spent 10 months in judicial custody, the court granted him bail. Just a year later, he took part in an extortion case targeting another man named Manjeet.

Importantly, Dev had ties to Neetu Dabodia, a gangster who was killed in a police encounter in 2013. His continued involvement in crime suggests efforts to revive the gang’s influence. So, during questioning, Dev admitted he fired multiple rounds in Majra Dabas to spread fear and re-establish the gang’s control in the area.

However, this case reflects a troubling pattern where personal disputes quickly turn violent. In both Delhi and Punjab, people increasingly settle such conflicts through intimidation and gunfire. It highlights the urgent need to address the social roots of this violence.

The effect on local communities is deeply concerning. Frequent gun-related crimes make residents feel unsafe. Many live in fear, especially where gang presence is strong. Tackling this issue will require joint action from law enforcement, policymakers, and community leaders.

Authorities must put in place educational programs and early intervention strategies to steer young individuals away from crime. Moreover, authorities must also work harder to shut down the illegal arms trade that fuels such violence.

In summary, the gangster arrested in Delhi case shines a light on the persistent issue of gang violence and illegal firearms in the capital.  However, Long-term safety will depend on consistent policing, strong community support, and continued government efforts to dismantle organized crime networks.
