One buyer, who spent ₹3 crore, said he had to put in an additional ₹30 lakh on repairs to make his flat livable.
The problems extend beyond interiors. External walls show missing plaster, wires remain exposed, and water-damaged patches reveal poor construction. Even leftover building materials litter the back lanes, creating safety hazards for residents walking through the premises.
Safety issues have become alarming. Rooftop service shafts for pipes are left open without railings, raising fears of accidents. The lifts add to the concern. Buildings have only two lifts each, even though safety norms require three passenger lifts and a service lift. The lifts frequently break down, once even dropping several floors before emergency brakes stopped it. Parking also remains a mess, with the basement unusable due to missing fire safety clearance, forcing cars to block internal roads.
Water supply is another challenge. Families often get water only three days a week, leaving residents frustrated and anxious about basic needs. “Today we have water because we protested, but tomorrow it may stop again,” one resident said.
Efforts to get help from the DDA have brought little progress. Residents created a WhatsApp group with officials to push for repairs, but they complain about the lack of initiative. Many say they feel abandoned despite having invested their life savings. Yet, they have no choice but to stay, as leaving is not financially possible.
