In New Delhi, a shocking road rage incident left a 66-year-old businessman severely injured on Wednesday afternoon. The victim, Parveen Gulati, suffered a brutal attack in the busy Karol Bagh area. Police filed a case of attempted murder, but they have not arrested anyone yet.
Gulati went shopping with his driver for the Diwali festival. They were heading to Paharganj when the violent encounter occurred. Around 1:40 PM, their car stopped at a traffic signal near a hospital. At that moment, a white car pulled up next to them.
When the signal turned green, the white car suddenly cut in front of Gulati’s vehicle and scraped it. Worried about safety, Gulati politely asked the driver to drive carefully. Instead of apologizing, the man started shouting and then attacked him.
Gulati’s driver tried to calm the situation. He told the attacker that Gulati had heart issues, hoping this would stop the violence. The attacker ignored the plea and continued his aggression. The driver attempted to escape by heading toward Karol Bagh metro station, but the attacker chased them.
At the next signal, the attacker got out of his car, pulled Gulati from his vehicle, and started punching and kicking him. He threatened to “finish off” Gulati and then hit him in the chest, causing him to collapse and lose consciousness.
The driver quickly wrote down the attacker’s vehicle number and drove Gulati to a nearby hospital. Doctors treated him in the emergency ward after he became unresponsive. They are monitoring his condition closely.
Police launched a full investigation into the attack. They are checking CCTV footage from nearby streets to track the suspect’s movements and find out how he escaped. Officers also increased patrols in the area to prevent more such incidents.
Road rage has become a serious issue in Delhi. Last week, in New Usmanpur, a trader lost 11 kg of silver after a violent confrontation that started when a car hit his scooter. Experts say many drivers lose their temper during traffic jams and festivals, which makes roads more dangerous.
Safety experts urge people to stay calm and avoid confrontations. They advise drivers to use signals, keep distance, and avoid arguing with aggressive individuals. If threatened, drivers should go to the nearest police station or a crowded place for help.
Delhi Police are launching awareness campaigns to reduce road rage and improve driver behavior. They plan to enforce traffic laws more strictly and act quickly against violent drivers. Officials say they will track down the attacker and ensure strict punishment for his actions. They also aim to restore public trust by making roads safer.
Everyone deserves safety on the road, especially during crowded festive seasons. Police are working hard to bring the attacker to justice and prevent future violence. Their efforts will ensure that incidents like the one where a 66-year-old businessman severely injured do not happen again.
